On the steep slopes of the magnificently wooded Heddon Valley, hidden in a spectacular setting at the end of a quarter-mile private drive, you will discover Heddon's Gate. This is a true country house hotel, run by its owners, Anne and Eddie Eyles. It is secluded and tranquil, and is set in more than 2 12; acres of its own gardens and woodland. Built as a hunting lodge in the 1890s, when the Victorian wealthy were choosing all the best sites for their country estates, the hotel is now a charming fusion of different styles.
